General Advice
This is one of the most common orchestral excerpts for bass trombone and the hardest one for me personally. It takes a high level of control, range, and preparation. One thing that really helped me was listening to the excerpt in the context of the full ensemble to get the style right. This piece is played in church with a choir, so keep that in mind while you play. Listen to lots of recordings! I recommend recording yourself and listening back to find areas for improvement.
